Zerubbabel, elsewhere always called “the son of Salathiel,” was only Salathiel’s heir and legal son, being naturally his nephew, the son of his brother, Pedaiah.

Commentary on 1 Chronicles 23:91 voice
The sons of Shimei,.... Not him that was the son of Gershon, but a descendant of Laadan, his son, as Kimchi observes: Shelomith, and Haziel, and Haran, these were the chief of the fathers of Laadan; of the families that sprang from him.

Commentary on 1 Chronicles 26:251 voice
None of those Levites who were employed in the service of the sanctuary, none of the singers or porters, were concerned in this outward business; either one was enough to engage the whole man or it was presumption to undertake both. Their charge was both in all business of the Lord, and in the service of the kings,
Matthew Henry· Commentary on the Whole Bible, 1710Puritan
- 1 Chronicles 26:26

Commentary on 1 Chronicles 26:261 voice
None of those Levites who were employed in the service of the sanctuary, none of the singers or porters, were concerned in this outward business; either one was enough to engage the whole man or it was presumption to undertake both. Their charge was both in all business of the Lord, and in the service of the kings,

Commentary on 1 Chronicles 26:282 voices
The foundations of a sacred treasury had therefore been laid as far back as the time of Samuel, when the Israelites began to recover from their last servitude. Such a treasury had been once before established, namely, under Joshua Jos 6:24; but it appears to have been soon exhausted, and we hear nothing of it under any of the later judges until Samuel.
Albert Barnes· Notes, Explanatory and Practical, on the Old and New Testaments (1832-1869)Evangelical
Note, The more God bestows upon us the more he expects from us in works of piety and charity. Great successes call for proportionable returns. When we look over our estates we should consider, "Here are convenient things, rich things, it may be, and fine things; but where are the dedicated things?" Men of war must honour God with their spoils.
Matthew Henry· Commentary on the Whole Bible, 1710Puritan
- 2 Chronicles 11:20
After her, he married Maacah daughter of Absalom, and she bore to him Abijah, Attai, Ziza, and Shelomith.
Commentary on 2 Chronicles 11:201 voice
Maachah the daughter of Absalom - See the note on 1Ki 15:10. She is called Michaiah, the daughter of Uriel, 2Ch 13:2. For this the Targum gives the following reason: “Abijah reigned three years in Jerusalem; and his mother’s name was Michaiah, daughter of Uriel of Gibeatha. She is the same as Michah, the daughter of Absalom; but, because she was an upright woman, her name was changed into the more excellent name Michaiah, and her fathers name into that of Uriel of Gibeatha, that the name of Absalom might not be remembered.
Adam Clarke· Commentary on the BibleEvangelical
