Own words
Quoted in full, because Evan Roberts died in 1951 and these works are out of copyright. Each citation below names its edition and its year. A citation naming a modernised text means that edition makes its own editorial changes, and that edition's terms are not in this site's record.
“This is the message. Of course I had to pray for it. To ask for guidance how the prophecy of Joel is being fulfilled. There the Lord says, 'I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh.'”
The rest of the quotation
If that be so all flesh must be prepared to receive it. Note the four conditions: First. The past must be clear: every sin confessed to God. Any wrong put upon any man must be made right. Second. Everything doubtful must be removed once and for all out of our lives. Third. Obedience prompt and implicit to the Holy Spirit. Fourth. Public confession must be made of Christ.
Joel 2:28 And afterward, I will pour out My Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. BSB
“It was God commending His love that bent me, and I not seeing anything in Him to commend. After I was bent, a wave of peace filled my bosom.”
Romans 5:8 But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. BSB
“Thanks be to God that the ‘insane fellow,’ in the hands of the Spirit, has been the means to throw down many castles of sin. Glory to God!”
2 Corinthians 10:4 The weapons of our warfare are not the weapons of the world. Instead, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. BSB

The life, in order
The life told as one accountfrom this site's record
Evan Roberts went down the pit at eleven and kept his Bible with him at the coalface. For years he woke in the night to pray, and he prayed one thing: that God would bend Wales. In the autumn of 1904 he asked his home chapel at Loughor to let him speak to the young people after the service; seventeen stayed. Within weeks the meetings had no order anyone could plan - singing, confession, prayer that lasted until morning, and no advertised preacher. In under a year something near a hundred thousand people professed conversion. Taverns emptied, football matches were cancelled, and the story ran in newspapers as far as India and Korea. Roberts drove himself past exhaustion, collapsed in 1906, and never returned to public ministry. He spent the last forty-five years of his life largely out of sight, praying for others, and was buried at Moriah where it began.
