Dietrich Bonhoeffer
1906–1945
Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a German Lutheran pastor, theologian, and anti-Nazi dissident. He was a founding member of the Confessing Church and involved in the German resistance against Nazism, including a plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler. He was arrested and executed by hanging in 1945, just weeks before Germany's surrender.
