Full Rev 3:7–13. City history: earthquake-prone (the AD 17 earthquake required imperial relief; the city was repeatedly rebuilt) — the pillar imagery of v. 12 lands sharply against this background. No rebuke — the second letter without one. Commendation: kept Christ's word, not denied his name. Promise: pillar in the temple of God (going out no more), name of God + name of new Jerusalem + Christ's new name written on them.
