Dr. Hugh Norman Ross (born July 24, 1945) is a Canadian astrophysicist, Christian apologist, and the founder (1986, with his wife Kathy) of Reasons to Believe (Sierra Madre, California) — the principal contemporary old-earth-concordism / progressive-creationism apologetic ministry. He earned a B.Sc. in physics from the University of British Columbia and a Ph.D. in astronomy from the University of Toronto. He is among the most-prominent astronomer-apologists in evangelical Christianity. His book catalog includes The Creator and the Cosmos (multiple editions), Navigating Genesis, Why the Universe Is the Way It Is, More Than a Theory, Improbable Planet, and many more. The framework is sharply contested by Young-Earth Creationism (Answers in Genesis, Institute for Creation Research) on one side and by mainstream-secular naturalism on the other.
