The guided walk

Start here

Five short steps, each teaching one motion of this site. Twenty minutes, end to end — or step off anywhere and follow what pulls you.

  1. 1

Read a chapter with the rail beside you

Open Genesis 1. The text reads clean — American Standard Version by default, King James or World English one click away. On a wide screen, the study rail rides along: connections, voices, and the Hebrew workbench.

    Open Genesis 1
  2. 2

    Sit in one psalm

Psalm 1 is one page long and carries the whole Bible's picture of the blessed life — a tree planted by water. Read it slowly. Notice the reader stays out of your way until you ask for more.

    Open Psalm 1
  3. 3

    Study one Hebrew word

Elohim — the Bible's third word. The workbench shows you the dictionary entry and every tagged occurrence, starting with all of Genesis. Every word of Genesis links here from the rail.

    Open Elohim (H430)
  4. 4

Walk a thread end to end

A thread traces one figure through the whole counsel of God. The Trees thread runs from two trees in Eden, through a curse hung on a tree, to the tree of life reopened on the Bible's last page. Eleven stops; every stop a page.

    Walk the Trees thread
  5. 5

    Weigh a contested question, whole

Who are the sons of God in Genesis 6? You'll find the texts, all three historic readings at their strongest, the ancient witnesses labeled for what they are, and the manuscript data — presented so the truth can argue for itself.

    Open the Watchers page
