Greek makrothumia — long-tempered. The OT-most-frequent self-description of God: "merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth" (Ex 34:6). 2 Pet 3:9 — "the Lord is not slack concerning his promise… but is longsuffering to us-ward." God's own self-description applied to believers as fruit.
